Department of Energy Adopts New Energy Conservation Standards for Transformer Efficiency
4/20/09--- The Department of Energy (DOE) has adopted energy conservation standards for transformer efficiency and the test procedures related to determining transformer efficiency.
(CFR Part 431 energy efficiency for liquid filled transformers).
The rule applies to certain single and three phase oil filled distribution transformers manufactured after January 1, 2010. See below links for more details on which transformers will be affectd by this new ruling.
Transformers manufactured prior to this date that are in inventory will not be affected.
ERMCO has prepared a document to assist utilities with proper wording to specify DOE energy efficient transformers.

11/01/2008---National Transformer Sales now offers the Focus AX-SD Service Disconnect from Landis & Gyr. With this new option on FOCUS Family metering products, there is a 200A relay integrated within the meter base. The combination of the Focus Service Disconnect base module and powerful AX register provides a flexible system that supports a variety of connect/disconnect and service-limiting functions. Utilico Introduces Dual Mount Transformer Connectors
09/15/08---Utilico, a Cincinnati, Ohio manufacturer of electrical connectors, is pleased to announce the introduction of the new UTILCO DMSB series of dual mount, reversible transformer connectors.
The new range-taking, step-style connectors, feature left or right-hand mounting from either end. Dual rated for copper and aluminum conductors, the 600 size fits both 1" and 5/8" stud diameters. NTS Employee Is Honored at the 77th North Carolina Meter School and Conference
6/27/08---Craig Shoaf was honored at the 77th Annual North Carolina Meter School and Conference, held at Sea Trail at Sunset Beach. Shoaf was inducted to the NC Electric Meter School Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame award is given for outstanding contributions and dedicated services which ensure the continued success of the NC Electric Meter School.
